It's going to be interesting to learn the extent of Epstein's network, if Ghislaine Maxwell is willing to reveal it. She's going to cut a deal, I assume.
By the way, I suspect SDNY may have damaged its case in describing her as "slithering" back to her life of social privilege. It displays an animus that is wholly inappropriate in a powerful prosecutor making an allegation against an individual, whatever the charges. It is not a crime to be wealthy, and when they talk about privilege, it is non-criminal behaviour they are describing. It is disgraceful for SDNY to represent a person as a snake prior to their conviction. It will also make it hard to find a jury that isn't tainted.
It's the same institutional arrogance to which Prince Andrew objected. Makes you worry that they win convictions by bullying and arm-twisting rather than the administration of truth and justice.
Like everyone else, whatever the alleged crime, it's a dangerous thing when the state prejudges guilt and deliberately damages the presumption of innocence and reputation of a person in the public square.
It was SDNY which failed to keep the key perpetrator alive. Its own competence and attitude to justice is in question.
If Maxwell is guilty, then they get to say what they wish. Until then, it's allegations. Let the court fnd what Maxwell is.
This is not a comment on the victims, who, assuming the truth of their accounts, deserve to see justice done in the courtroom.
