Saturday, we won a nice little "Homelite Chainsaw Homeowner Size In Carry Case XEL10" for $9. (It's about $90 new.) This was a good win since I need a small chainsaw to deal with hundreds of small trees ranging in height from 2' to 15' and coming up everywhere. Gas powered chainsaws are too heavy for this sort of work. Just walking from tree to tree with a 15 lb saw will wear you out - not to mention trying to start it while lying on the ground beneath what's essentially a Christmas tree.

On the down side, many of the trees I want gone are too far away for an electric chainsaw. Extension cords only go so far! Even if I use two (yeah, I know the risks) I can't reach all of them unless I lug a generator around.

It comes with an extra chain - which is good since finding replacements may be difficult. Homelite is the old Sears brand, I think, and I'm having a surprisingly difficult time finding chains for the XEL10.

I also won a pair of plastic sawhorses for $13. The wooden ones I made a few years ago rotted away. I guess I shouldn't have left them out in the weather. Sawhorse sets range from $30 to $70 on Amazon. I don't know enough about these two to price them any better than that. I'll pick 'em up on Tuesday.

Our basement is mostly a single open room with a wood floor. There's a lot of echo, so we've been buying carpets at auction for some time, hoping to cut the echo down. Tonight we won a beautiful 12 x 15 Polypropylene rug by Loloi, part of its Stanley Collection. If you don't know what that is, that's fine. We didn't either. It's a rug - a really big rug, in spotless condition.

After winning it, I'm looking into it further and finding it was made in 2016 and that Loloi's "Stanley Collection" came in many sizes. The 12 x 15s sold for between $1,200 and $1,600 at various retailers (all sold out now), though one of the internet ads said the rug advertised (very much like ours) was discounted to $1,400 from $3,000.

We won ours for $33 plus a 15% auction house fee, so $37.95.

The photos below are the auction photos. We'll be picking the rug up on Saturday.
