For the little trees - Loppers. Look kind of like a light weight pair of bolt cutters and are to be found in with pruning shears.
For the bigger ones a 'Bow Saw'. An aluminum frame a couple of feet or so long shaped a bit like a bow. Does good on small trees and taking branches off bigger trees. I've had mine for over twenty years or so.
