Hyperbaric oxygen has been hyped (pun intentional) for decades as a miracle cure for many an ailment. Yes, it does have some practical medical uses (treatment of gangrene being a prime one) ... but most of it is hoodooo.
My credes on this ...not much. Hyperbaric and Underwater Physiology - two month NSF seminar led by Dr. William Fife in 1972 at Texas A&M .... was an interesting summer. So, not a whole lot of qualificaion ... but who cares, eh ? On this board we just recently pledged to post unsubstantiated rumors as fact. *w*
Dr. Fife was quite a teacher and inspiration - and at the time, held the record for number of dive hours in sealabs (ie. going to depths of 1,000 feet or more for extended times.)
btw: Don't ever dive with an oxygen tank. At 35 feet (two atmospheres) 100% oxygen will kill you in about an hour. Very toxic.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good ...
