The 8th Amendment of The United States Constitution prohibits the government from imposing cruel and unusual punishment. Knowingly allowing a prisoner to waste away by withholding basic health care would be cruel and unusual, IMHO. Prisoners are wards of the state while they are incarcerated; therefore, the state is responsible for their general well-being. However, THAT does not make health care a right - merely a responsibility of the state while prisoners are under its "protection." Once prisoners are freed from incarceration, they become like everyone else ... there is no inalienable right to health care services ... it is your responsibility to work and earn the money necessary to pay for the health care services that you desire for yourself and/or your loved ones.

See how simple and straightforward that is, zzfart?

Cheers!
