A quote from tonight's speech which shows how little Trump really understands about the history of America or what it was that the Founding Fathers were really trying to do for the people of America:
“Since the signing of the Declaration of Independence 241 years ago,
America always affirmed that liberty comes from our creator. Our rights are given
to us by God, and no earthly force can ever take those rights away,”
He based his claim on the fact that it says "In God We Trust" on back of our currency. What he fails to understand is that this was only added in 1957. If you want to get technical, the moral traditions of America owes more to Freemasonry than to Christianity. Just look at the back of the $1 bill (with Washington, who was a lifelong Mason, on the front) and you'll see the unfinished pyramid and the "All seeing eye", both Masonic symbols, and they were there LONG BEFORE the words "In God We Trust".
