A major backup on the Ambassador Bridge created traffic gridlock for transport trucks heading to the U.S. along Huron Church Road on Wednesday afternoon.
The delay was caused by a computer system failure, according to officials from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Trucks are still backed up past Cabana Road with traffic on some connecting streets also starting to pile up. Vehicles were lined up on Wyandotte Street all the way to Campbell Avenue.
"We are experiencing some national system issues and are doing everything we can to minimize the local impact," explained Ken Hammond, spokesperson for U.S. Customs.
