I had a four-year, full tuition scholarship to engineering school, which was based on academic achievement. I was the only student to get this particular state-provided scholarship at my high school for that year.
I also had school loans (which were repaid in full) and for my last two years, I also collected my monthly stipend from the Army Reserve. And I worked every summer and even for the university during the last couple of years. I did not come from a wealthy family. I might have gotten maybe a couple a hundred from my parents over the five years that I was in school.
