Hey, Spike ... if you want Kaepernick employed so badly, then pull some money out of your own pocket, buy an NFL franchise, and hire Kaepernick as your team's quarterback. You can name your team the Benedict Arnolds.

You can use this as your helmet logo ...

Should free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick remain unemployed by Aug. 23, a group of supporters plan to hold a rally outside NFL headquarters in New York on that date.

A poster of the event was shared by film director Spike Lee on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

A similar event was held on May 25 and drew a modest crowd.

Kaepernick, a veteran of six NFL seasons, has sat and watched as tens of quarterbacks of varying experience and results have been signed this offseason. The Miami Dolphins even pulled Jay Cutler out of retirement to lead their team for the upcoming season.

Lee has previously expressed support for Kaepernick, who drew both praise and disapproval from fans for kneeling during the national anthem last season.
