Professor,

you forgot the other possibility that you have a warped head(s) from overheating.

More serious, but needing same outcome is the cracked ones. BOTH require replacing period.

BUT, there are salvage yards and that vehicle's engine well may likely be readily available.

I would get another head and take to a machine shop and have it ground. Replace the usual parts while at it with new and then you have a perfectly good as new head..

Go from there.

Head Gasket, Intake Manifold gasket - if you're lucky. Next best case - cracked head ... worst case- cracked block.

Good luck with it Cap'n. Sounds like one that'll yield a tidy profit for ye, very low miles !!!!
