...another reason land might (and I stress MIGHT NOT) is that it is not beyond the scope of government to just take your land (imminent domain) or whatever they are calling the out and out robbery going on in S Africa and redistributing it to someone more deserving (more likely to vote for and support the leftist regime)

Hmmm - we no longer own land in this country - unless you live in an area that has no property tax - we rent it from the gubmint, after paying a big down-payment (call it an escrow fund that is seized when taxes aren't paid.)

What happens in hyper-inflation ? Land prices (valuations) go thru the ceiling.

What happens to the property taxes ? Ditto.

Still think land is a protection against the economic collapse ?

I don't.
