Professor

Keep up the very good detailed explanations of things such as the dissimilar metals problems of cathodic and anodic charges between them and the end results which are usually metal failure and/or corrosion, and I may yet have to promote you to Mechanical Engineer first class.

The other day's physics discussions with none other than our illustrious board president supreme, Sire Ribit, had me wanting to chime in but chose to just sit back and relish the discourse. I loved it!

I am seeing a side of you I have not seen before. AND I LOVE IT!!!!

I am so very glad that you are an active participant here with so many other great minds and very practical and handy people who also are very congenial.

I LOVE THIS BOARD!!!

And I really like everyone on it!!!! You guys all make my day everyday.

Thanks everyone!

Perchance those heads are...aluminum ? Very subject to corrosion, if so. Would also guess that the block is also aluminum - given the very low torque values for the head bolts.

Aluminum stinks as a metal for internal combustion - especially if ANY steel, iron, cast iron parts are used anyplace on the engine = even steel head bolts and steel piston rings. No matter what the auto makers try - overcoming the 'cathode/anode' problems of dissimilar metals, especially under high heat and temperature- can NOT be done ... not in any affordable and long lasting way.
