NATO countries are pledged to fight as one if any of them are ever attacked.

...a pledge is a deterrent only if you intend to keep it and then only if your adversary believes that you intend to keep it. After 8 years of Obama pussyfooting around (with the aid of the worst secretary of state in world history) it is possible that they (much like the nviets) don't believe that we have the guts to see it thru. If N Korea nuked japan how many democrats could you count on to give trump a declaration of war? As far as that goes, if N Korea were to nuke a red state???

re: "My original plan was to give nukes to S. Korea and Japan. Still sounds good to me."

Not to me. Why should we give nukes to them when, down the road a bit, some nutcase might get into power and use them against us?

I'd far rather see the countries join NATO and be protected that way than just give them nukes outright. I don't know if they'd be willing. Remember, NATO countries are pledged to fight as one if any of them are ever attacked.
