Yes, and it is looking like he made the right decision - this time, anyway. The storm shifted west and is going up Florida's other coast. That's far enough removed from his condo that he'll be fine. I told him last night that I don't think he will even experience hurricane-strength winds.

It does, but no building is solid against a rising sea. I've seen some huge hotels that were washed out to their 3rd floors. Standing before them, you could see the ocean and sky on the other side.

It has greatly weakened, with 130 mph winds, but it's likely to strength once it gets off of Cuba. It's a category 3 as of 8 a.m. EST. It has moved far west and will probably make landfall in Central Florida. I suspect Orlando will experience more wind than my brother's place will.

I see what you mean. I asked my sister-in-law how far above the ocean the property is. She says she has to use a ladder to get down to boats. She thinks it's raised about six feet.
