Back in he 50's I lived in Waco. The
ditches on the street were deep and
wide. When we got a big rain, us kids
would go swimming.

hehe. Mz. Ribit knows best! We had Cat 1's when I was a kid. We used to go to put on our rubber riding boots, which go to the knee and hit the beach (LI Sound). The men would go down to carry the raft up to the parking lot. One year it ended up at the far side of the pond (over parking lot, past access road, into the sizable pond) after the men had carried it up to the top of the beach. It was terrific at the beach. The oak trees did well, too and they were all around the house. Always a worry, but none came down. The eye's went straight over us, but never problems like ya see these days. Last big one was the 1800's, I think. It took out a huge barrier island. Mother Nature gets awfully grouchy.
