There's something odd here.
A short time ago, a network affiliated station broadcast the upper image showing conditions in Deerfield Beach, FL.
Deerfield Beach is North of my brother and sister-in-law who took the lower photos about ten minutes later. They're on the same coast.
As my sister-in-law put it: "Compare how the picture on the TV looks and my photos, which were taken 10 minutes ago. It's a little windy and water in the intercoastal is up. But nothing crazy happening here. Being we are south of Deerfield Beach about 20 minutes, you would think conditions here would be worse!"
Do you get the feeling the media is trying to stretch the truth just a little??
