Take nothing for granted. You are following your instincts and your convictions and I do admire you for doing so.

Ribit, DG, myself are getting to the ages where we simply have less concern, though we do have concern.

We aren't going to be around all that much longer..

SO, yes sir. Protect to the best of your abuility your assets. Changing your SS number is a good idea.

And making it easier to do so with your assets by consolidating as much as you can is a good idea also.

You sir are PLANNING! lol!!!!!!!!

Good advice, micro. I bet that the free protection doesn't last very long, though.

One of the things I hope to do in retirement is to consolidate all of my financial assets, then apply for a new social security number. I think consolidating my holdings beforehand will make the job of notifying the various financial institutions that much easier.

Of course, after I do this, my information will probably be stolen AGAIN. I just don't know . . . .

I harbor a little fear that one day I will wake up and hear that someone I don't know has sold my home and land out from under me. It COULD happen. Foreign governments aren't stealing all this information for no reason.
