Well, your solution, killing millions, would have to be a great many millions. This, btw, was right in line with Obama's thinking. His plan was to kill off the elderly by denial of service. That's built into Obamacare and was scheduled to kick in after Obama left office so he wouldn't be blamed, if I remember right.

As far as SS, that's our money, ripped off. Until recently, there was no alternative for retirement for most(?) people. It's only in later years, alternative savings were available. Yeah, that would kill millions, too, 65 and beyond.

See that, I knew there was a reason I shouldn't have worked so hard while in the workforce. Everybody wants to knock us off!

You're asking the wrong person. I consider our situation to be utterly unfixable: There's a cliff. We've just taken a step off of it. Now we're wondering how to keep from falling.

It's not precisely like that. I mean, if I were a dictator, I could pull us out of our slump. It would kill millions of people because one of my first steps would be to default completely TODAY on both social security and Medicare, but my ruthless solution would be better in the long run than the chaos that is going to ensue (and which will also kill millions) one day if nothing is done about our debt.

"Nothing" is precisely what's going to be done because it isn't human nature to upend itself to avoid a threat that hasn't burned anyone yet. I think the Global Warming fanatics are learning this lesson right now.

We are going to collapse . . . since that's what arrogant spendthrift empires always do. I don't know if my little island of solitude in the woods will be isolated enough to protect me from whatever is that's coming, but it's the best that I think an ordinary person can do. Climb to high land. It might not be high enough to avoid the tsunami that's coming but, then again, maybe it will.
