I'm not even going to assemble my drones until next year. I'll verify that the contents are complete, but that's it.
What you've described doesn't surprise me. I'm sure that these things are going to be unstable and very, VERY persnickety. I'll launch them on a dead calm day in an open field with closely cut grass for 100 feet in all directions. That should minimize the number of things that can go wrong. And then I'm going to focus on taking them straight up, fairly high, and then either straight down or auto-returned down.
We'll see how it goes.
I've got a friend who bought a pretty good drone on Ebay for about $200, and they're still available for $250 or so. If I have any success with these cheap drones, I may buy one like his. He says it is extremely easy to fly, and the gps returns it at the push of a button to his feet every time.
