Zim

I have a complete hard drive with my XP Pro x 64 system and all my files on it so all I need do is take this drive out or plug the other one in.

I liked my XP Pro....

I will say though that windows 7 x 64 has been extremely reliable without nary a problem ever... At least mine has..

Re: Music files

suggestion: I store mine on 64 GB flash drive. That is my backup for them. I use separate flash drives for different things. I have one for pictures, one for my personal writings, one for Business, one for computer stuff I keep such as all programs, setup application files, records, and of course backups to all email of myself and my wife.

They also are on another hard drive but I don't trust hard drives alone and find that a good flash drive is worth its weight in gold..

I also have a nice USB HUB sitting at my fingertips so I can easily access the USB drive for my machine...

This is simply how I do it....

QUESTION for ya.

HAs there been any further development of a Linux distro that more closely resembles a windows familiarity that one can actually install a program easily into and set up their printers and other hardware?

I believe THAT will be the replacememnt to WINDOZE 10 and beyond.... I keep waiting....

Have a good one Zim!

micro....

Lkorrow> What is that dog magical assistant thing? I never heard of that. . . .

Dear Linda,
Was it called Cortana? Some sort of electronic computer
assistant and it kept trying to 'help' me. It wanted
more and more personal type information . . . It wanted
to keep all my passwords for me . . .

I found it to be more of an irritant than anything else.
Also, I don't like that windoze wants me to put everything
under 'my documents' . . . I prefer to set up multiple
sub-directories (sometimes on separate drives) for
filing all my stuff. I never really want to store my
files in 'my documents'.

And I really like to have my computer play the music I
like as background noise while working (playing?) on
my computer.

And then win-10 defaulted to running sound out some
non-existent head phones - instead of out the computer
speakers I use. So, no noise till I googled and found
out what the dingbats did . . . And let us not forget
that windoze wants to hide music files so I can't find
and make archive copies (backups in case a hard drive
goes to that bit bucket in the sky on me).

The Guru at work thinks win-10 is the greatest thing
since sliced bread . . .

I still like my old XP machine.

Zim.
