Thanks, micro, I do have an old Acer laptop that I press into service if needed, but I don't really like carrying it. I find the iphone's fine for 99.9% of my travel needs these days, since I don't need it for business anymore. Surprisingly, the iphone's also good for reading books, as you can adjust the text size and the highlights you make get sync'd with the desktop through Amazon. Best for novels, though.

I was thinking I could pop the ipad in my pocketbook on trips and it would replace the iphone and ease Internet use with the bigger screen. That assumes you can use it as a phone. I always try to use my phone in speaker mode, as there is a radiation consideration putting these things by your head, so iphone, ipad, makes no difference and could use a earphone if privacy's needed. Just tossing it around, not ready to buy anything until debt's gone. Unfortunately, that's going to take awhile.

Linda

Try a KINDLE for reading e-books. Much chea[per than an over rated Ipad. I have an Ipad 2, rarely used.

Like my Dell laptop much better with windoze 7 pro on it...

Upgraded the memory on it and it works well. It is a dell Latitude D630. I paid $30.00 for it from my son in law who was disposing of about 20 of them for his school where he is the computer teacher.

Cost me about $30.00 to make it run much faster and it works just like my desktop. I have transferred much of my desktop info to that machine so when I travel out of town on business I have everything at my fingertips..

Kindles work well for reading e-books. They also can store things. Surprising what you can do with one for a fraction of an I-pad...
