You're right about Obama being a Muslim, so his goal could see the caliphate as the end-state, not the Socialist utopia. He could be using the Socialist state as a means of conning the Left into believing they were going for the Socialist end state, while actually going for the full monte, the caliphate, as you're saying. A plot within a plot.
