Forgot about the strike. Kudos, mt, with your recollection of these people, too.

It seems like a real changing of the guard, a generation of good guys passing. It's the whole demlib "anything goes" philosophy that perpetuates and accelerates decline.

When things are looking good, they don't tend to be vandalized, as Giuliani found out. But once they are and they're not cleaned up, it's field day. Graffiti begets more graffiti.

Baseball lost me at their first 'players strike' way back when.

Ditto on football - and had already quit rooting for most teams due to the increasing criminal behaviour of so many of its players.

Tom Landry was the Last GREAT Coach of the teams I watched, a strong Christian Man who always gave an appropriate witness. He did not put up with immoral and criminal players. He fired them.

Cowboys owner Clint Murchison Jr. and president Tex Schramm were also men with integrity. Respected all three of them.

When that famous offensive lineman, Mark Tuinei, died after retiring of heart attack by Cocaine - that was the end of the Cowboy as 'hero' for me. Yeah - been a long time.

Roger Staubach - Still, and always will be, a mensch - A Man worthy of respect.
