I've never been in a hotel that would have intervened or even thought twice about my bringing in too many bags. Especially if I brought them in one at a time spread out over time, perhaps using multiple entrances.
I've done that, by the way. When we moved from California, the movers took everything that wasn't particularly fragile or valuable. The rest traveled with us. When we went to hotels, we brought everything valuable to our room each time we stopped, using whichever entrance was closest to our room, to the stairs or to the elevator. I'd say we brought in at least ten boxes... and a populated birdcage (which most of the hotels did not allow)... every time.
Those were small hotels, but they hold conventions at major hotels. People cart in truckloads of various items every single day. The staff doesn't interfere unless it looks like a bellhop is needed.
