If we enforced the second amendment, no individual would be able to own guns, other than a “well regulated militia”. as outdated and silly that sounds in the 21st Century.
Then, the discussions about who can own and carry a gun are rendered moot. Nothing else to resolve. Nothing about the psychotic, the violent, the abusers, the this or the that. Nothing.
Problem won’t be solved instantly nor easily, though, now that there are 300 million guns in the hands of “gun owners” and criminals. But, to start with, render guns illegal and give a time frame for them to be turned in to police. Those who don’t will face big fines. It will take years, but things WILL change.
At most, for now, those who own guns may keep one or two guns for self protection, and REGISTERED HUNTING RIFLES, no assault weapons, etc. Those caught with assault rifles, get criminal sentencing.
