The authorities lie to us in the aftermath of every single major gun event. That sure doesn't help.
Just think about it:
o After the assault on George Zimmerman, we were told that Trayvon Martin was just a little boy. The media claimed that there was a huge size difference when, in fact, Zimmerman was 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds while Martin was 6-foot-1 and 150 pounds. We were told that martin was a little angel. We were told that George Zimmerman was white (many insist on it even today!) We were told that George Zimmerman was a Republican. We were told that he was a racist. NBC went so far as to falsify the 911 recording to make it appear that Zimmerman had stated "This guy looks like he's up to no good. He looks black." When the police brought Zimmerman in for questioning, the media claimed Zimmerman didn't show signs of a struggle — no blood or bruises. (In fact, his head was badly lacerated.)
o Following the 2015 murders in a South Carolina church, Barack Obama told us “This kind of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries.” (He repeated it many times.) But only months before, Islamists had murdered 12 members of the staff of Charlie Hebdo magazine in France.
o After the mass shooting last year at that Orlando nightclub, we were told that the shooter, Omar Mateen, was homophobic because he hated gays. We were told that he was mean and beat his wife. We were told that he had too much unfettered access to guns. And, over and over, we were assured that he was not religiously motivated.
o Following the Ft. Hood shooting, we were told that the shooting was "workplace violence," not terrorism. That is the story even today, though the shooter himself announced in court he carried out the Fort Hood shooting to protect Mullah Mohammed Omar and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Al Qaeda also swears allegiance to Mohammed Omar.
o And after this shooting in Las Vegas, the FBI told us quickly (on Monday) that there was "no connection" to Isis as had been claimed in social media. We were also told that the shooter's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, "is no longer considered a person of interest." Both of these were clearly lies since today, two days later, all sorts of curious things about Paddock and his girlfriend are emerging and under investigation. Law enforcement is now openly stating that there is a possibility of "radicalization," and connections with either Isis or Antifa.
I haven't yet heard a peep about what was on that notepad next to Paddock's body. Why not??
The lies fuel the conspiracies. At this point, who deserves the greater contempt - the conspiracy theorists who might be wrong or the media and authorities who initiate and spread bald-faced lies?
