Hopefully what she means, and has discovered, is that YOU should be in charge of crews and directing and leading the work. It's a little thing called EXPERIENCE and EXPERTISE.
WHAT she should do, and it is always easier to spend someone else's money, is to put you on a SALARY that does not change or fluctuate, (this takes cares of financial worries like sickness that someone may well get), and provides a platform of security.
Your raises would come in the form of BONUSES based on how well the company did.
IF you were working for me, this is what would be happening.
You would still get vacation time, and medical insurance and eventually some additional things. Obvious all national holidays and a few that are not, like days around Thanksgiving and Christmas. EVERYONE needs time to be with family and friends.... And that takes more than one or two days.
BUT, I am very happy for you that at the least, you have a new start...... MAYBE eventually this will become a springboard for you and give you some much earned rest from worry.....
