De,

Thanks for posting the video. I remember some snapshots, but didn't see the video. Beautiful piece of land. My friends had a similar driveway, but not such a severe drop off and there are oak trees on both sides until you break out to the fields and house.

You have a great view, I hope you'll be able to see that from the house? Have you been up there in the Fall, with the colors out in all their glory?

I went up to New Paltz a few times in the Fall, with friends. The trees were bright yellow, it was an awesome sight to see the mountainsides in splendid color from the Mohawk Mountain House. This is a cool place to visit, you can get a day pass for lunch or dinner, hiking and such. It's a lot hillier than the picture lets on.

New England's nice.

You have a lot of property there!

re: "De, thanks for sharing with us, I'm really enjoying your commentaries."

Every so often, I watch the video I posted last year after the driveway was finished. Makes me feel good. I don't know if you ever saw it. http://youtu.be/tak1Q8cd-zQ

In the video, you'll see a few stakes (with ribbons on 'em) where the construction is now occurring. The barn is to the left of the path I walked, and the house will be more or less directly ahead. As you can see, I'm not building anywhere near the top of the hill. The driveway is too long as it is!

The right side (as you ascend) of the driveway is what has me worried. During winter, a car driving down and sliding off that edge would be a goner. Maybe the driver too. I'll have to drop some trees and stake them in on that side to make it impossible to slide off.

You might want to skip past the first four minutes unless you're a huge fan of the color green.
