Boy, the darnedest things can happen. The head can bleed all over the place from a small cut. It's more frightening than anything else. Watch the concussion business, though, as swelling can occur after the fact. If the docs want to keep him another night, don't debate it is my advice. I don't know if it helps or not, but if it was me, I'd be putting ice packs on my head as insurance after getting home. Might want to ask the doctor about that. Thoughts with you and your family.

While riding to class on one of the school's rental bikes, a handlebar grip came off during a turn and my son crashed. He hit his head pretty hard and he saw spots in front of his eyes. They've since cleared up.

His head is bleeding, his left shoulder hurts, and his right thumb too.

The doctor first said he had "at worst a mild concussion." But they did an X-ray and saw "a faint line" in his neck that apparently warrants a closer inspection. Now they're doing a CT scan.

My fingers are crossed that it comes back negative.
