‘NO EXCUSES’
U.S. Men’s Soccer Coach Quits After Devastating Loss

Bruce Arena announced Friday that he will resign from his position as coach of the U.S. men’s national soccer team. The decision comes just days after the team lost its chance to play in the World Cup for the first time in more than 30 years when it was shockingly upset by Trinidad and Tobago.

This was only Arena’s second year coaching the team. “Everyone involved in the program gave everything they had for the last 11 months and, in the end, we came up short. No excuses,” Arena said in a statement. “We didn’t get the job done, and I accept responsibility.”
