The probe grew out of Muellerâ€™s inquiry into the finances of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, according to the sources, and is focused on whether the Podesta firm failed to properly register as a foreign agent when promoting Ukraine as part of a public relations campaign organized by Manafort.
