Out in West Texas- the speed limit is 75. . . . I believe that there even 80 mph speed limits in Wyoming (possibly other states.)

Actually, there is a stretch of about 200 miles of I10/I20 between El Paso and Odessa with an 80 mph speed limit. I drive it regularly an
d don't have a problem with it. It also continues on I10 toward Ft. Stockton.

There is also supposed to be a stretch of 85 mph speed limit between Waco and Austin I believe.

Out in West Texas- the speed limit is now 75 on the Interstate.

Folks, the cars may 'feel safe' at that speed and higher - but the fact is PEOPLE ARE 'not safe' at that speed. Reaction times remain a constant at any speed, and 75 mph is just too freaking fast. Add to that distractions (many more with devices and dash boards of today - coupled with more cars on the roads, each a 'distraction') and these high speeds are indeed a menace.

I believe that there even 80 mph speed limits in Wyoming (possibly other states.)

Insanity.
