You're right. You caught a mistake. What I approved (and described on this forum) was a barn with an upper floor that exceeded the lower floor's footprint, extending onto the hillside and giving animals housed upstairs a dirt floor.
That's not what my builder built. I'm sure he'll say that he explained it to me this way, but I know I told him that the stalls needed to be on dirt. That's the problem with my not being on site with him. Mistakes happen. In this case, the difficulty of building on the side of a fairly steep hill caused him to adjust the plan in a way that actually detracted from the barn's functionality. That was NEVER agreed to.
I'll roll with the punch. I think we should be able to enclose the lean-to that was going to be for vehicles and chicken coops and instead use it for cows and other hooved animals. There's no need to do that right away. It will be a few years before I have a house there, much less any animals. If worst comes to worst, I'll build a stable specifically for those animals. It wouldn't be the first time a farm had numerous outbuildings.
Now Nemo is going to say, "See, De? You should have had ME build it!" LOL...
