There are now signs going up in LA saying Meryl Streep knew Harvey Weinstein was a sexual harasser/predator.

Where are the tricoteuses? Time to bring out the tumbrils. Raise the guillotine, mes amis.

That's how these things end. Apparently there's permitted to be no middle ground. Even with people like Meryl Streep. About the only one of these people who can actually act well.

This is why the Dems have to be careful. They have overdone the victim culture so that now everyone must be a combatant.

You want sexual harassment law, but for cases in which the harassment is clear, non-consensual, a pattern etc. Not for a hand inadvertently put on someone's back in Lake Woebegone. And not to punish those who don't know that anything has gone on.

And people are also allowed to pursue their happiness, so there's also all sorts of relational activity wherever humans are present. You can't lawyer the human out of us. We do desire, fall in love etc. We are made for this purpose, not to be robots.

If you allow lawyers to govern even basic interactions, you end up with either a bland or a toxic culture. Puritanism or 1984. Take your pick.

But then to use a person's claim to have been abused to abuse someone like Streep in such a fashion - anyone who does that is doing the sort of things HW is accused of. It's bullying of a cowardly sort.
