It wasn't that strong an argument. More grandiloquent at this point than substantial.
What he is describing is normal to sovereignty and is exactly the sort of power which the US federal government claims for itself. Nothing shocking about it.
His actual objection is that the monarch is in England. And he is justifying a revolution. The Americans wanted to run their own show.
The complaints try to justify the intention by legal arguments when it was a territorial thing, like a cat spraying a post. Nothing wrong in that. People are animals, after all.
But Jeff should not be compared with an illiterate charlatan and con man. They have nothing in common other than an executive title. It only serves to make the contrast and American decline obvious.
