Good morning ma'am!
I had a new family doc meeting. A meet and greet for first time as my doctor of 20 years retired. That sucks.
This is a youngster who found out in a hurry I am not going to listen to him on most of today's medical peddling, like a colonoscopy for the sake of having one, or getting vaccinations that are almost useless like Flu, which covers a few strains, but not the majority.
I am not interested in a HEP C test at my age. I don;t have Hep C. So he got the message pretty clearly.
I told him nicely that I am a mechanical engineer with 8 years of college and thirty 5 years of practice.
He is a medical engineer of the human body. I do not know a lot about the body having not studied it like he did, but I do have a brain that allows me to think methodically and what I do not know I can find out.
So now we understand each other. When I am sick I will see him again maybe... IN the meantime, tests for testing sake is not going to happen....
Wife told him same thing. We are both pissed for having to have to go for this visit because neither of us needed him or were sick.
ONE positive thing did happen. I discussed my pinched nerve and consequent sciatic nerve pain that never stops, and lack of any medication help from Back Doctor.
He wrote a script for a long time nerve pain medicine called Gabapentin. He said to try it along with my high does of Aleve (4 pills@time, three times a day)
I am up to 900 mg of Gabapentin at a time now and that seems to be helping along with the Aleve.
I want to back down the Aleve because after today I cannot take any more until after the Epidural Spine shot on Tuesday morning at 7:00 a.m.
So between tomorrw and then it will be just me and the Gabapentin. Hopefully it will relieve that shooting, searing sciatica nerve pain on its own....
I can increase the doesage to 4 pills, or 1200 mg per time if needed . So that is an option if the three by themselves do not get the job done.....
Trust me when I tell you, you never want to get a badly pinched nerve in your back, especially the low back where the sciatic nerve is what is being pinched.
This is brutal.... I have had six prior surgeries and could stand all the pain without meds. This is a different beast altogether....
