Supreme Court hears major voting rights case today
The Supreme Court is set to hear arguments Wednesday about the legality of Ohio's system for purging voters who have not cast a ballot for two years. The case was brought by a Navy veteran who was told he couldn't vote in 2015 because his name had been stricken from the rolls.
Civil rights groups say Ohio's system, which is used by a half-dozen other states and could be adopted by many more, discourages minority turnout, but the state says it's an important tool for keeping voter registration lists accurate and up to date.
