NYC Sues 5 Oil Companies Over Climate Change

New York City is seeking billions of dollars in a federal suit against five oil companies over claims that they have majorly contributed to global warming. Mayor Bill de Blasio said the suit looks to recover money spent by the city, and the defendants include ConocoPhillips, BP, Exxon Mobil and Royal Dutch Shell.

De Blasio and Comptroller Scott Stringer also on Wednesday announced that the city will divest $5 billion in fossil fuel investments.
