And they didn't count the thousands (tens of thousands? millions?) of illegal Muslims Obama snuck in in the dead of night, bypassing immigration at the airports. Persistent rumors on that from JFK workers, but I have seen no proof.
I have several things to say about Muslim immigration, which I have said for years, around 10 in some cases, I think, across many venues:
1. We're a country of immigrants, but this does not require us to import people who shun our Constitution, laws and way of life. And especially those who seek to implement a separate system of Islamic laws, called sharia.
2. The 9/11 hijackers lived in regular neighborhoods and were well liked by their non-Muslim neighbors. Until the day their wives and kids disappeared and they bombed New York, the Pentagon and a field in PA. There have also been documented cases of them killing their friends.
3. Most attacks in Europe and the US were committed by second generation Muslims. Muslim immigrants can be vetted, but their unborn offspring can not.
4. Immigration was wide open when the country was young and needed people. Now, we are overcrowded and do not, for the most part. Yes, reform is required.
5. Some segment of immigrants are engaged in hijrah, immigration jihad. Their goal, whatever their affiliation, is to blend in and execute the Muslim Brotherhood plan for the conquest of America from within, by our own hand. It's hard to distinguish good people from bad.
Bottom line, there is no shame in rejecting people, whether legal/illegal immigrants or refugees who pose a national security risk or further stress financial resources of our communities. The European influx is a travesty.
Regarding the posted article, I don't get how Pew or anyone can estimate Muslim numbers if the census doesn't count them, not that they would cooperate, anyway. And another factor adding to their numbers, other than immigration, is the imams instruct them to have five kids per woman. Don't know how much that is taken to heart in the US. Might not be, probably isn't, adhered to. Don't know . . .
