Seems a waste of money, after the Supreme's ruled on the McDonnell case. Wonder what the break down of the jury was?

Feds to Retry Sen. Bob Menendez in Corruption Case

The U.S. Department of Justice has decided to retry Senator Bob Menendez (D-NY) and his co-defendant Salomon Melgen after a jury failed to come to a verdict in their November 2017 corruption case.

Annalou Tirol, acting chief of the public integrity section, filed a one-paragraph notice on Friday, stating, “The first trial ended in a mistrial with a deadlocked jury. An early retrial date is in the best interests of the public, and the United States is available to schedule a retrial at the Court’s earliest convenience.” Menendez was tried over allegedly providing political favors for Melgen, a Florida eye doctor, in exchange for “hotel stays, private jet flights and hundreds of thousands of dollars in political contributions.”
