...I thought it was something similar. I know they can put stuff on digital photo's and videos. Most digital cameras put stuff on as well as decent dashcams. I believe that if the cops know a crime was committed at x location at y time they can tell who was there (or at least who's cellphone, dashcam, gps thingy, rfid chip in credit cards etc that they can do an arrest pretty quick. I can see the day coming where computers know where you are every second and if ya jaywalk during the middle of the night you can expect to get a traffic ticket in the mail in a couple of days.

Liberals are like a "Slinky". Totally useless, but somehow ya can't help but smile when you see one tumble down a flight of stairs!

Re: “...that's how they caught the BTK Serial Killer I believe.”

Not exactly. The BTK Killer was communicating with the police - sending them letters. They convinced him to send them a floppy disk. He did, with a Word document on it.

Right-Click on a Word document on your PC. Then select Properties. Then open the Details tab. You'll likely see a screen that looks like this:

I didn't ever tell that document that my name was Decomposed. Rather, I gave my computer that name when it was brand new. I didn't give it much other information, but MOST people do! That information gets written as metadata into almost every document the computer creates.

If you try this yourself, you might be surprised how much personal information you're unintentionally providing.

In BTK's case, he was using a church computer since that's where he worked or volunteered. He sent the police a document that had the name of his church in it. From there, catching him was child's play.
