The lottery can go, in my view.
The chain migration can be modified, but the question is what problem exactly is it solving? For example, if an Italian comes here and tnen brings over members ohis family, legally, what problem does that create?
None.
The chain migration is another red herring, because they really want to limit chain migration from MUSLIM COUNTRIES, but they can’t do that, so they are going to throw tne baby out with the bathwater, and cut LEGAL immigration in total by half. Which brings us face to face with a real economic problem: lack of workers for all kinds of jobs, especially low paying ones that so-called entrepreneurs need to .....”entrepreneur”.
This all does not mean we do not have an immigration problem. It just addresss how wrong we’ll go about it, when noone wants to even use the database to verify legal status before employing someone, because they’d have to pay real wages, and blind greed is alive and well in America.
So, as long as we try to do immigration by ignoring reality, we will be trying to solve a problem forever, because the solutions address the wrong things.
Finally, gihadist terrorism is not going to be addressed by these schemes. But, we do have a problem of some who came here legally becoming jihadists, just as we have the problem of “native borns” commiting massacres on a huge scale. The solution there is to have better intellgence and develop methods to find the few that cause such deaths before they act, not to classify everyone as a potential danger. Terrorism will never go away completely. By default. It is like a weed. Weeds never go away completely. Tney are just dealt with, some proactively, otners when tney show up.
That’s reality.
Like that kid that popped up and killed amd wounded his classmates.
Deal with it.
