Amtrak train appeared to be 'on the wrong track,' governor says
South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster said it appeared to him that the Amtrak train that collided with a freight train early Sunday morning "was on the wrong track." The crash killed the Amtrak train's conductor and engineer, and injured more than 100 others.
“Our information — subject to correction — is that this was not the main line," McMaster said. "That is, this was a loading track or a sidetrack … where the collision took place." He added that the information is "subject to verification," and authorities said that the investigation is still ongoing.
