From what I have read regarding employment at Whole Foods, the employees there are really being treated like autobots andhave somebody standing over them with a red pencil ready to give them a RED number for being less than perfectly efficient.

Customers have started complaining in the stores as well due to Amazon's kiddie corp management that wants to keep inventory levels of products on shelves at BARE minimums.

Good for company. BAD for CUSTOMERS. You can tell by actions of most of the newer companies that they are run by kids. NO SENSE. Without customers coming into those stores their sales are going to TANK and they will wonder why....

35 years ago when I was running my first corporation, I bucked wall street wisdom about inventories of finished goods for sale. I went opposite.

I tripled our business in two years. Ya cannot sell QUICKLY what ya does not have ready to go out the door....

Dipsticks.... Same was true for these dumbass parts inventories at large manufacturing plants today, They never think about what IF there is a weather event that prevents your parts you just used the last of, from being delivered to you today. OOOPS!!!!!!!! There goes that production line... ALL in the name of trying to save a nickel.

Yep. Penny rich and dollar poor. I am laughing my arse off at the owners of my former company. They tried this eurpean inventory control crap called Han Ban and have absolutely lost all control over production....

Now they are begging me to come back and straighten it all out..

I said thanks but no thanks. You created the mess and you can solve it yourself. You changed everything the way I had it set up. That was your fault.
You hired a moron from Holland to be head of manufacturing who could not find his BUTT with both hands. He was an idiot when I met him and he is an imbecile today.

SO now, enter AMAZON into a world in which it has NO experience or expertise and has it being run with those who have even less. Looks like a bad recipe to me....

ALL of course is just my opinion with a lot of factual personal first hand knowledge.......

Yours truly,

crippled micro... Can't wait until Monday.....

I wonder if there is a net job loss. For every cashier that's not hired, there's probably someone hired to watch the monitors. Is it really about diminishing payroll or is it about eliminating a bottleneck to the flow of merchandise and boosting convenience? I haven't explored deeply enough to know.

Self-service is the name of the game. Notice the steady increase in self-checkout in the big box stores and supermarkets. I'm old enough to remember lunch at the H&H Automat in NYC.

Here's the inevitable evolution of that trend:
