That's was my thoughts as well, if you're that hung up on deficit spending, why vote for the Trump tax cut? Of course, there is an ulterior motive here. What you do is run-up a big deficit and then use it as an excuse to cut social welfare programs, which to Republicans includes Social Security, Medicare as well as things like public education.
