Re: “COuld be something you should consider for your retreat up north!”

Yep. That's a good thing to do. I've had "Manage an Apiary (Bees)" on my list for some time. #msg-1017306

It's a lower priority however than many of the other items on my list, so I wouldn't be surprised if I never get around to it. I imagine it's a frustrating but sometimes rewarding hobby. A beekeeper I work with tells me that she's had springs when she checks her bees and finds hive after hive totally wiped out. That's got to be frustrating.

re: "A source of income as well....."

Amateur beekeeping is NOT lucrative. My friend says it takes a ton of time and money. It's got to be something you enjoy or it's not worth doing.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

De!

COuld be something you should consider for your retreat up north!

Fresh honey. Bees to help pollinate. A source of income as well..... Honey makes a great natural sweetener.

Just a thought. I sent the link to my son in law who is a beekeeper.

Great article! Thank YOU!
