I met and talked with the surgeon today regarding my condition. He looked at the MRI, showed me where the problem is and stated that it is not going to go away by itself. I was also delighted to learn he is a friend of my former spine neuro-surgeon who also refers his patients to this surgeon / doctor I saw today.
He explained what he needed to do and how he would do it. He uses a new technique called micro surgery, which is much smaller tools used than in minimal invasive surgery, which is what I had done five years ago.
This is about a 2 hour surgery but when I wake up I should be able to walk and likely can resume working again in a couple days.. Pain should be gone.... And there is less than a five percent chance the growth that is impinging that sciatic nerve root will ever come back..
All good news. He also wrote me a script for some mild pain killers. That will be a help. I cannot keep taking mega doses of Aleve as it will eventually harm my organs.
The Bad news. I have to wait until March 16th.
I am first patient on that day and have to be at hospital at 6:00 a.m. Surgery is at 7:30 a.m.
A long day for my wife.
I wish he had an open date sooner but he doesn't...
So that is where I am.
JUST for RIBIT.
I told him a friend suggested I get rid of my golf clubs. The doctor said why? You will easily be able to play with no problems when I get rid of the things that are causing the trouble and pain... You could be golfing in a matter of a couple weeks after the surgery...
SOOOO. I am keeping my clubs and plan on using them. I do not golf much anymore due to time constraints, but I enjoy it when I do...
SO, the clock is now ticking and cannot come soon enough....
Something to look forward to. Light at the end of the tunnel!!
