BLOCKED AGAIN
Appeals Court Rules Trump’s Travel Ban Unconstitutional

The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday ruled that President Trump’s ban on people traveling into the U.S. from six Muslim-majority countries is unconstitutional.

The appeals court, in a 9-4 vote, stated that the travel ban violates the Constitution by “discriminating on the basis of religion.”

The Supreme Court permitted the executive order to be carried out while the lower courts hashed out its legality.
The 4th Circuit went further than the 9th Circuit decision, which earlier ruled that the ban “violated federal immigration law” but failed to address the policy’s constitutionality.
The Supreme Court will hear the travel ban case in June, which banned people from Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen from entry into the United States.
