Thanks De!

I was not aware of that saying... Hmmmm.

Makes sense though. Fredericksburg ain't too awful far from Washington DC, the Reb's mortal enemy in that period of Civil War.

I spent an entire day at Fredericksburg a few years ago walking the town, stopping and looking in the stores and touring Marye's Heights. Went from there to Chancellorsville to walk that Battlefield and then drove from there down and east to Cold Harbor battlefield...

Virginia is a very Historical state and beautiful one also. I do not care for its politics nor its leadership.

One of the very few Reb states that have flaming liberals running the show... It's a shame.

SO, since you are now in southern Virginia, I would assume,(big mistake), to be closer to Charlottesville than where you wuz, Richmond area would be considered south in proximity to Fredericksburg.

My daughter lived in Richmond for about five years. Nice city. I liked it.

Re: “Where approximately in Virginia is it considered Southern Virginia as opposed to Northern??”

Those whose families date to the War of Northern Aggression or earlier are unequivocal in their response: "Everything to the North of Fredericksburg, the North can just keep."

Who am I to question that?

P.S. Virginia has only been an interim stop, albeit a 13 year one, on the way from California to New England. I don't consider myself to be a Virginian and haven't learned very much about the state.
