Absolutely correct. The Constitution dictates in no uncertain terms that the inalienable rights of individual citizens are NOT to be infringed in favor of the government's wishes - PERIOD, END OF STORY. Therefore, any statement to the effect that government should have the ability to infringe the rights of the citizenry and confiscate their personal property without observing the right of due process is unconstitutional and misguided in the extreme.

Yesterday, President Trump actually went *to the left* of the Left on gun control, by suggesting giving the government power to confiscate guns without due process!

Campaign for Liberty President Norm Singleton states:

All who support limited constitutional government and individual liberty should be outraged by President Trump's suggestion that government be allowed to confiscate firearms without due process. This is the type of police practice associated with a totalitarian state not a free republic.

I agree that President Trump’s endorsement of gun control will, by disarming law-abiding citizens, result in more innocent lives lost to armed criminals. This proposal would, if implemented, not only lead to massive violations of Americans' gun rights but would set a dangerous precedent that could lead to violations of other constitutional rights.
